About this coffee Great decaf is just great coffee. We’re proud to offer this coffee sourced from the Bayter family farm in Tolima, Colombia at El Vergel. This is a mix of Yellow and Red Caturra is harvested regularly throughout the year, one of the few areas in the coffee growing world that has multiple harvests, and is cleaned, sorted, pulped and washed before drying. The coffee is sorted at the dry mill before sent to the processing facility to undergo the decaffeination process.

The EA process is also known as sugarcane process; as the sugar from, well sugarcane, is fermented to create ethyl alcohol and then mixed with acetic acid. This creates ethyl acetate. The green coffee seeds are steamed to remove the skin and soaked in ethyl acetate multiple times to lower the caffeine levels in the coffee seed. What remains is still a complex and sweet cup with plenty of the original qualities.
