About This Coffee Lino’s house sits almost exactly halfway between the lower and upper sections of his farm Finca Betania - and in that upper section is where you’ll find both Bourbon Rosado and Geisha growing at the top of El Silencio.

In recent years an in-country trend has started in Colombia where farmers are blending Geisha and Bourbon Rosado together. Often seen as “Blen 70/30” on bags, it is generally a blend of 70% Bourbon Rosado and 30% Geisha. Don Lino, who we have been buying from every harvest and who we have a very strong relationship with, decided to flip the script and create a 70% Geisha and 30% Bourbon Rosado blend. When he told us about it, we contracted the entire lot, and now we have the honor of introducing this Colombian farmer created blend to the US market.

Ripe cherries from each variety are sorted separately, and after pulping, the Bourbon Rosado and Geisha are then blended before being placed in large barrels and sealed for 72 hours. After the fermentation, the coffee is washed twice before being placed on raised beds to dry for 22-24 days. Finally, the coffee is left in parchment and bagged and stored for another month to stabilize the humidity level at 11%.

We’ve been lucky enough to be trading with Lino since before day one, in Nov 2021. During that time, we’ve had the honor of visiting twice, buying a handful of lots from him twice a year, every year!
