About this coffee Ronaldo Reis Madeira and Fernanda Aparecida own and operate Sitio Divisa, a small hillside farm in Nova Resende, where they live with their children, Murilo and Lorena.
The average farm size in Nova Resende is small. Fernanda inherited a property of 10 hectares which they combined to their original land and later added an additional 8 hectares that is shared with Ronaldo’s cousin and neighbor, Bruno Ronan, and together they help out one another during the busiest parts of the year.
All of the coffee grown at Sitio Divisa is Red and Yellow Catuaí, hand harvested with mechanical assistance and classically dry processed, as a natural. Coffees are finished in mechanical driers when necessary. These traditional methods and practices are combined with a high and specialized understanding of coffee production and processing standards; Ronaldo participates on courses and lectures about specialty coffees and makes continuous upgrades to his farm. His attention detail awarded him 20th place at the 2018 Cup of Excellence in the Natural Category. This is where we were first introduced to him and his family by SMC and celebrated his win in the CoE program, with many cachaca! Ronaldo, Fernanda and their family’s hospitality swept the jurors and ourselves away and we made it a point to connect and partner with SMC and to buy coffee from Sitio Divisa.
