About this coffee The Amar Sittón Family own and operate the famed Bambito Estate, a small 10 hectare coffee farm in Chriqui, Panama. The team led by Priscilla Amar Gonzalez and her brother Rafael Amar have won numerous Best of Panama awards over the years.

The Bambito Estate is located in an ideal setting - the surrounding mountains help shield the coffee trees from the strong winds that occur every summer, while the north facing slopes where the coffee is planted result in less direct sun, more shade, and more moisture, all of which helps consistently produce the coffees that Bambito Estate is so famed for. This lot of Typica is cultivated at an altitude ranging from 1,632 to 1,821 meters above sea level, resulting in an average temperature range of 50-75F. This slightly cooler weather and higher elevation cause the beans to mature at a slower pace and results in beautifully intricate and dynamic flavors.

The Amar Sittón family have also invested heavily in sustainability practices on the Estate, including running a greenhouse to preserve the genetics of the coffees grown and to help maintain a young farm. Coffee processing by-products (coffee pulp/mucilage) are used as a source of organic fertilizer and two springs supply water for the farm and processing. Bambito Estate invests into their community by providing breakfast year round to all students and teachers at the local primary school and by employing as many locals as possible throughout the year, especially during harvest time.

We’re excited to have received the introduction to Priscilla from our friend Fey, and honored to be able to offer coffees from such amazing, community-minded individuals.
