About this coffee The Department of Huehuetenango (Xinabajul in the Mayan Mam language) has long been famous for its coffee. Encompassing almost the entire length of the Sierra de los Cuchumatanes mountain range, Huehuetenango contains the most extensive highland region in Central America, providing the perfect climate and conditions for growing excellent coffee. It is here, at an altitude of 5,500 feet that Arcenio Castillo Villatoro and his family grow coffee on their farm – Finca Bella Vista.
Growing up in the tiny village of "La Cipresada," Arcenio watched as his father prepared and worked the coffee on his farm with devotion, commitment, and dedication. These young childhood memories sparked a dream in Arcenio to one day owning his own coffee farm which came true in 2007 when he bought the land that is now Finca Bella Vista. After many years of hard work, the Villatoro family are earning rewards and recognition for their coffees, placing several times in both the Cup of Excellence Competition and in the ANACAFE One of a Kind Competition. Last year we offered this coffee when it won #15th place in the 2022 Cup of Excellence competition and is back again with 16th place in the 2023 Cup of Excellence Competition. This is a truly outstanding Natural Gesha with punchy fruits and florals, a decadent vanillary and marshmallow sweetness. For the second year running we’ve won Arencio’s coffee in Guatemalas Cup of Excellence competition in a buying group with Onyx Coffee Importers.
