About This Coffee Having visited his farm several times, spending nights with Lino, Los Jovenes, his sister and his mother, a strong bond has formed between Idle Hands and Linarco and his family. In return, we’ve become lucky enough to feature his coffee year-round.

El Bosque is the original plot the Rodriquez Ospina family bought over 70 years ago, and it still has the original house on the bottom half where Lino grew up. The other half is growing SL28 amongst pine, orange, and other shade trees. The shade, combined with the soil seem to be ideal for SL28 – the trees are smaller and lower to the ground than Bourbon Rosada or Caturra, but each tree produces an abundance of dense, sweet, cherries each harvest.

Ripe, sorted cherries are floated to remove any defects via density sorting before being pulped and sealed in barrels for 60hrs. Afterwards, the coffee is washed clean with fresh water, twice over, before the clean parchment is then moved to the raised beds to dry for 22-24 days. Once dry, the coffee is stored in parchment inside grain bags to further stabilize before preparing the coffee for export.
